Be selfish, be generous.
GO WILD team annually organizes a fully sponsored trip to one of the Indian National Parks as an attempt of giving underprivileged children, an appreciation & taste of wildlife. This year we took 30 orphan girls from Dnyanesh Bal Sadan under the Investment In Man Trust Foundation on a trip to TATR [Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve] for a 4 days trip.
Conceptualized first by Sandeep Desai, the trip was aided by the discounts from the local Forest Department at Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, who willingly subsidized our stay at the dormitory, the national park entry charges, gypsy bookings, food provisions, et al. We would also like to thank the on-ground staff at TATR & special thanks to Shri Pardeshi (Principal Secretary) & Shri Bhagwan PCCF, for their unwavering support to our endeavor from day zero. We would also like to extend our gratitude to our fellow Go Wild campers who came forward to chip in for this cause.
Even the erstwhile wily Cat God was also in a generous mood & rewarded us with ever lasting imprints of Maya & cubs taking down a barking deer in an ambush. Maya had chased the deer from bushes to right where the cubs were goofing around & then Maya stayed, watched as the cubs pounced on the deer. Other sightings include an old Sloth Bear waddling across, a single male Indian Gaur bison & whole bunch of birds.
We hoped to create a little awareness, share our good fortunes & be responsible wildlifers, but ended up gaining more than we hoped. The look of joy and amazement on their (children’s) little faces was anything, but Earthly; as they say that it is in the giving that we receive; so was the case for us. If you too, also want to be a part of such programs or could suggest us ideas feel free to reach out to us in the comment section below !
