Bharatpur, once home of the valorous Jat kings, is now well renowned as the ‘Ornithologist’s Paradise’. A world heritage site, Keoladeo Ghana National Park is one of the world’s major wintering areas for a large number of aquatic birds. A distinguished avifauna sanctuary, Keoladeo is home to thousands of migratory birds. Keoladeo, the name gets from an old Hindu temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and remains at the focal point of the national park. “Ghana” implies thick, alluding to the thick woods, which used to cover the region. Exploring the park in a cycle rickshaw is an experience one would cherish forever.
Remains of the impregnable fortifications like Lohgarh fort, Deeg fort give us an insight into the architecture of that era. The red stone palace at Dholpur is another architectural marvel. Famous for its ravines and badlands topography, Chambal a place less explored is now recognized as an Eco-Tourism Spot. National Chambal Sanctuary is a haven for Gharials, endangered Indian Skimmer, Nilgai, Wolves, and Chinkaras. With our GW Photo Mentor leading this tour the participants would be in for a delight with insights into the art and science of photography.
