Once ruled by the Gond kings, Nagzira is located in the Gondia district of Maharashtra. It is said that there were once elephants (‘Nag’ means elephants in Sanskrit) found in this forest, which is how the name Nagzira came into being.

Nagzira wildlife sanctuary is a ‘Green Oasis’ surrounded by luxuriant vegetation, picturesque landscape and rich biodiversity. A bird watcher’s paradise, Nagzira is a marvelous treasure house for reptiles and amphibians and endangered mammals like Panther, Small Indian Civet, Sloth bear, Wolf, Four Horned Antelope and the apex predator ‘Tiger’.

  1. Day 1 Pune-Nagpur

    Depart from Pune Railway Station by boarding Pune-Nagpur Garibrath 3 AC at 17:40 hrs.

  2. Day 2 Nagpur-Nagzira

    Reach Nagpur at around 09:30 hrs and leave for the Nagzira (breakfast to be taken in train). Reach Nagzira for lunch. Upon arrival check-in, freshen up and have a delightful lunch.
    Get acquainted with the campsite. An introductory session will be conducted by the experts from GO WILD. After spending evening at leisure, have dinner and then off to bed.

     

  3. Day 3 Nagzira

    Wake-up call at 04:30 hrs, and leave for morning safari, by gypsy. Explore the enchanting trails of this forest. Return to the campsite by 10:00 hrs, Leisure time, where we share our jungle experiences, followed by lunch at 13:00 hrs.

    Leave for the evening safari by gypsy at 14:30 hrs and return by 18.00 hrs. Free-time till 19:00 hrs. This is the time to discuss about the fulfilled day and today’s sightings. After a delectable dinner, the day ends. Have a sound sleep.

  4. Day 4 Nagzira

    Wake-up call at 04:30 hrs, another pleasant day starts with new hopes to see the wildlife. Return to the campsite by 10:00 hrs, after an adventurous morning safari and relax. Lunch followed by an exciting evening jungle safari.

    Dinner at 20:30 hrs. End of another wonderful day.

  5. Day 5 Nagzira-Nagpur-Pune

    Another morning safari that marks the end of our jungle safaris. After returning with vivid jungle memories, we have a lovely lunch. After lunch, we pack our bags and leave for Nagpur. Depart for Pune by Garibrath 3 AC at 18:35 hrs.

  6. Day 6 Pune

    Reach Pune by 09:30 hrs. This marks the end of a memorable camp.

  1. What to expect when in Nagzira? 

    The Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary is home to healthy wildlife. The Sanctuary has a rich population of Leopards and Wild Dogs, other sightings may include Tigers, Sloth Bears, Indian Gaurs, Sambar, Spotted Deer etc. Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary also has a rich avifauna with as many as 166 bird species sighted here.

  2. Is there a flight option to this location? 

    Yes, flights can be opted thus saving one day at the start of the tour and the end; however certain flight timings do not coincide with the train timings; and thus the flight itinerary might make you compromise on the typical itinerary.

  3. What is the usual sharing in vehicles & accommodation? 

    The accommodations are always on double sharing basis unless otherwise opted for. Single sharing basis attracts an additional nominal fee, while triple sharing allows you to be eligible for a small discount.
    Safari vehicles as well as internal transit vehicles (such as SUVs) are usually shared between 6 people, unless indicated otherwise. Specific Photography Mentoring Tours have 4-in-a-vehicle. Exclusive jeeps can be reserved by a group after paying a surcharge.(group size less than 6)

  4. Is it safe? 

    Open jeep safaris & even nature trails conducted by us follow the highest safety standards, and we take all necessary precautions involved. We respect the wild animals and their comfort, and keep adequate distance while photographing them. However its worthy of noting, that being cautious goes a long way in preventing any mishaps.

  5. How is the climate in Nagzira? 

    Summer temperatures rise upto 45 degrees Celsius and hence is very hot whereas in winters it gets cold and minimum temperature will drop to around 5 degrees Celsius. Traveling during both the seasons has its perks!

  6. Who all can be a part of this tour? 

    The jungle can be visited by anybody who is fond of wildlife or is a first timer. It is apt for anybody who wishes to experience this journey. Children of any age group, accompanied by adults can be a part of the safaris. For a detailed inquiry you can always ask our experts for advice.

    Apart from the season wise apparels, we recommend you to only wear comfortable clothes with colors that will go with the nature. Bright colors like red, orange, white, yellow etc are a strict no no. We will provide a detailed list of things to be carried before the tour.

  9. Can I get Veg/ Jain food? 

    Apart from the stays in Forest Rest Houses; food menu is usually tailor made according to the group. Veg food is available at all locations, and Jain food can be arranged for if informed at the time of booking.
