Spiti, also known as the “Middle Land”, is a trans- Himalayan terrain located in the north-eastern part of Himachal Pradesh in India. The name “Spiti” means “The Middle Land”, i.e. the land between Tibet and India. Spiti valley is a place. Spiti valley is home to some of the oldest monasteries (Tabo, Sherkhang and Dhankar- all around 1000 years old), highest motorable villages in Asia (Kibber), highest post office in the world (Hikkim), Chandrataal lake, beautiful and vast landscape, ancient and intact culture and simple people. Spiti valley possesses a distinctive Tibetan Buddhist culture similar to that found in Tibet and Ladakh region of India.

  1. Day 1 Chandigarh- Shimla (112 kms / 3 – 4 hrs)

    Arrival at Chandigarh. On reaching airport, leave for Shimla. Reach and check in into the hotel. Overnight at hotel.

  2. Day 2 Shimla – Rampur (128 kms / 4-5 hrs)

    Post breakfast drive to Rampur en-route visiting Kufri. On arrival check in at hotel. Visit the ancient temples. Overnight at Heritage Palace Hotel.

  3. Day 3 Rampur - Sangla (95 kms / 4-5 hrs)

    Post breakfast drive to Sangla en-route visit the famous Bhimakali temple in Sarahan, regarded as one of the Shaktipeeths. Continue ride to Sangla. On arrival check in at camp. Overnight at camp.

  4. Day 4 Sangla - Kalpa (103 kms / 6 hrs)

    Morning a short drive up till visiting the picturesque village of Chitkul and later return back to Sangla and visit Kamru Fort & village. We continue our drive down Sangla Valley and then continue further to Kalpa. On arrival in Kalpa check in at hotel. Kalpa is a beautiful village located in the backdrop of Kinner Kailash Mountain range. Rest of the day free to explore the surrounding. Overnight at hotel

  5. Day 5 Kalpa - Nako (132 kms / 6 hrs drive)

    Today we will drive to Nako en-route visiting confluence of river Satluj & Spiti at Khab. From here we continue our climb up to Nako. On arrival check in at camp. Evening free to explore Nako village which is located on banks of a lake and visit the monastery. Evening visit the village, the Buddhist temples and murals and a rock where a footprint like impression is ascribed to Padmsambhava. Overnight at camp.

  6. Day 6 Nako - Tabo - Kaza (111 kms / 4-5 hrs)

    After an early breakfast at camp drive to Tabo village along the Spiti river. Tabo monastery was founded in 996 AD by the great teacher Richensang-po, Tabo is renowned for its breathtaking murals and stucco images – and is often called “The Ajanta of the Himalayas”. Continue our drive to Kaza. On arrival in Kaza check in and overnight at hotel.

  7. Day 7 In Kaza

    Morning visit the Ki monastery, 12 kms from Kaza. This centuries – old gompa is a labyrinth of rooms and corridors – and at one time also acted as a fort. It houses valuable Thangkas and offers a panoramic view of the area. Also visit the small gompa at Kibber, 9 kms further ahead. Kibber at 4205 m has the distinction of being the highest permanently inhabited village of the region. Drive back to Kaza and evening free to explore the town. Overnight at hotel.

  8. Day 8 Kaza - Chandertal (170 kms / 6-7 hr)

    On your bikes from Kaza to base of Chandertal lake, enroute we will cross very beautiful villages of Spiti Valley and crossing over Kunzam pass (4558 m). On arrival check in at camp. Rest of the day free to explore the surrounding. Overnight at camp.

  9. Day 9 Chandertal - Manali (116 kms / 7 hrs)

    Enjoy the charming scenery and drive to Manali. Driving along the Chandra river on the dirt road providing views of Bara Shigri Glacier and CB ranges. From Gramphu we climb our way up to Rohtang Pass (3980 m) and then meandering our way down to Manali. Overnight at hotel.

  10. Day 10 Manali- Delhi

    Full day sightseeing at Manali. Late afternoon checkout and leave for Delhi by Volvo.

  11. Day 11 Delhi- Final Departure

    Reach Delhi early in the morning and final departure. The tour concludes with lifetime memories.

Yes, flights can be opted thus saving one day at the start of the tour and the end; however certain flight timings do not coincide with the train timings; and thus the flight itinerary might make you compromise on the typical itinerary.

An expedition to Spiti will take you through non crowded rugged roads, pristine nature, cold deserts and Tibetan Buddhist culture. You will travel through places like Narkhanda, Sangla,Kinner valley as well Chandratal and Manali.

The accommodations are always on double sharing basis unless otherwise opted for. Single sharing basis attracts an additional nominal fee, while triple sharing allows you to be eligible for a small discount.

Winters in Spiti are from November end to Mid-March, the temperature dips to anywhere from -10 to -15 degrees at night. The roads during this season are blocked due to heavy snow fall and hence general tourism is not recommended during this time. The best time to visit Spiti is from June to September. The snow slowly starts to melt and roads open. To travel throughout this region it is advisable to travel from July till September end. Occasional rain in some parts of the tour can be experienced.

People who are well versed with driving a car and having a valid driving license can join this tour. Spiti is situated on a higher altitude and hence acclimatization is most important. Any person who is healthy and fit can travel to Spiti given that he/she follows our instructions before and during the tour.

In recent times 80% of the roads in Spiti region are made up of tar and are double laned. The terrain at the high passes though is rough and dusty as it is covered with snow for 6 months of the year. One should remember that this an expedition and not a leisure trip and hence safety is of utmost importance.

We make sure to provide with a back up vehicle with driver and mechanic as well.

Packing for a bike expedition needs more gears and packing than that on a normal tour. We provide helmets and gloves from our end. We provide you with a detailed list of things to be carried before the tour which will help you to pack right before the expedition.

Network connectivity is only available for selective network companies (BSNL, Jio). Apart from this there is very less chance to get network connectivity at all the other places of sightseeing. ATMS’ are available throughout your stay except for Chandra Tal.

Yes, it is very safe. Spiti also has a strong army base. Tourism has rapidly developed in this area after 2013. The security and overall infrastructure compliments the tourism industry very well.
