Udaipur, formerly the capital of the Mewar Kingdom, is a city in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. The city is located in the southernmost part of Rajasthan and is surrounded by Aravali Range, which separates it from the Thar Desert. It is popularly known as the “City of Lakes” because of its sophisticated lake system, it has seven lakes surrounding the city which host a rich diversity of avifauna. The city turns into a bird watching paradise in winters with more than 150 migratory bird species visiting these water bodies.
